Jeni has been a part of the Brooklyn East family since 2013, when she joined as a 7th grade math teacher. Previously, she had been a Teach For America corps member at Cochrane Collegiate Middle School in Charlotte, North Carolina. Jeni is a graduate of Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, and a Master's Degree from the Relay Graduate School of Education. Before becoming principal, Jeni served as Brooklyn East’s Dean of Curriculum and Instruction. The throughline throughout her entire career has been an investment in the success of every student. At Brooklyn East, the goal of closing academic gaps with data-driven instruction is one that Jeni shares with every staff member. Every child deserves a great education, and greatness can only be achieved through thoughtful collaboration and leadership. As principal, Jeni coaches and empowers a staff charged with the greatest responsibility of all: preparing the leaders of tomorrow.
Director of Operations
Atiba Edwards joined Brooklyn East in Spring 2013 as an Operations Fellow and became the Director of Operations in July of 2013. Prior to joining Brooklyn East, Atiba worked as a Fixed Income Research Analyst within JPMorgan’s Investment Bank where he covered the Automotive Sector and he also worked at Nomura Securities in their High Grade and High Yield Fixed Income groups. He graduated from University of Michigan, where he majored in Industrial Operations and Engineering and Liberal Arts with a focus in Poetry and Musicology. Atiba was born in St. Vincent, West Indies and grew up in Brownsville, Brooklyn.
